Notes: For sub-irrigated and overflow sites.  Big Bluestem grows abundantly on moist, deep, rather well-drained soils of valleys and ravins in conjunction with little bluestem, swithgrass, and indiangrass.  Rapid growth, reproduction by rhizomes, and a tall stature are responsible for its prominence on adapted sites.    It also has a high production of very palatable forage and hay.
